This is mainly a song to celebrate being together with my wife for 36 years. We can do crazy things and get on each others nerves, but we will always have each other's back. It is also my contribution to the Soundclick 25th Anniversary Challenge.
As this is a challenge song, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of SoundClick, I tried to merge 2 ideas. This song was written for my wife, but it is also a tribute to the many wonderful people I met and collaborated with on SoundClick.
The idea for the song came, when I was playing around with some guitar chords. I took a Gadd9 chord and moved it up the frets and found some nice sounding chords, that I have used for the verse.
The lyrics are about how my wife and I will soon be celebrating our 36 wedding anniversary and I was thinking about, how we had been there for each other through the years.
But the story also relates to SoundClick. Whenever I have been feeling in a bad mood, it always cheered me up to go and listen to some of the wonderful music people have made. And I love reading the cunning and often well written remarks about my songs. Often someone will have left a note, just saying "I hope you are doing well" or "Have a wonderful weekend". It feels good to know that you have soul mates out there and I have done my best to also support my SoundClick friends by listening, commenting and letting them know, that they are heard and appreciated.
With friends-in-music like these, you will never get lost!
I did the vocals, played all instruments and produced this myself. For once nobody but me was involved :0)
You are the rubber band, to stop me when I’m falling.
And I will stretch you far beyond your limits, that’s for sure.
You let me dangle for a while - to teach me a lesson.
But before you know it, I go and do it all again.
Only, God knows, why we, do it.
I am the scaffold, that will hold your house together.
When you get broken down, I’ll build you up again.
I will repair your walls, so you can take the beatings.
Whenever a storm comes up and lightnings shred the sky.
Only, God knows, why we, do it.
And I will find you in the desert,
You will find me in the dark.
When someone’s there to find you,
You will never get lost.
We signed a treaty, but we never spoke about it.
It’s just an understanding, that doesn’t need the words.
You’ll knit another sweater, I will go to SoundClick.
The people and the music there, will lift my spirit high !
And I will find you in the desert,
You will find me in the dark.
When someone’s there to find you,
You will never get lost.
