This song was created for the CBC Egypt challenge as a collaboration between Holger Luth and Knud Erik Jensen.
Given the theme"Egypt" some stories came to mind: The renowned Cleopatra, the Rosetta Stone and the great pyramids at Giza. We tried to blend the historical facts with some derived associations and loose ideas flying around, like "What did they sing when they were moving the big stones up to the top? (Hee - hah).
Musically, we build the song up around sampled sounds and then added some played keyboards and vocals. We sought for an oriental sound, but we addded a flavour of indian, a touch of greek and contemporary sounds also. Hope you enjoy - I know we had great fun with this :0)
(Spoken) Cleopatra was the last pharaoh of the ancient Egypt. She was of greek origin and though her family, the Ptolemies, refused to speak Egyptian, Clepatra insisted on learning the egyptian language and represented herself as the reincarnation of the ancient egyptian goddess, Isis.
Do you know Rosetta Stone? She’s the goddess of R&B. Tattooed on her back you will find 3 statements, in English, in Greek and in Chinese.
(Spoken) The Great Pyramid of Giza, also known as Khufur’s Pyramid, was 146,5 meters in height, when it was built. Originally, The Great Pyramid was covered by casing stones, today you only see the underlying structure.
Do you know Sayid? He’s the king of the building site. He pours the cement. He’s in charge of the crane. He will build up your dreams and visions – the Freedom Tower.
